Best Classical Music of All Time – Organized by Composer

I have taken my “Best Classical Music of All Time” list and organized it by composer, in chronological order by date of birth.  I have included every piece of music on three or more of the original 10 source lists.  NOTE: This means there are a lot more pieces of music on this list than on the “Best Classical Music of All Time” list, which only gives you music on four lists or more.  The number in the far left indicates how many of the original 10 “best classical music” lists contain this particular piece.

Thank you for the list, a very useful guide to discover the jungle of the modern composers.

I think that Korngold and Kreisler are better known that some of the American composers included in your list, but I understand the nationalistic need to include our own.

I’m sure you’re correct, libros. As you know, these lists are not based on my personal opinions but are collections of lists made by critics, scholars and other experts. I access the Internet in the US and can only use lists that are written in English or can be translated to English, so I’m sure there is a bias. I’m sorry that Korngold and Kreisler were not mentioned on enough of the lists I found to be included.

Love this so much! I’ve always been looking for a concise list of the best classical music and the lists I have found are either too short or omit critical classical compositions. Thanks for your work in creating this list!
